Well, I've had some time to think about those crashes - and other crashes I've experienced throughout my life. And I've come to the conclusion that we all suffer crashes from time to time. Very similar to a previous post when we discussed dis-equililbrium. For me, the latest was a physical crash on my bicycle. My life was interrupted, and I'll be forever changed. For another, their crash may be being served with papers for divorce. For someone else it's the diagnosis of cancer, or some other condition/disease. For another it's the death of a loved one. And for another it may be the last argument/fight they had with their child before said child left the house - and they haven't been heard from since.
That's just scratching the surface of the many and various crashes to which we can fall victim. So, the 1st question is: how do we react?
When I was first learning to ride my bike, the kind with reverse brakes on the pedals, I was going way too fast down our street(see above) and not knowing how to successfully apply and use the brakes, I ended up in a neighbor's rather large rose bush. Yowch! But in the back of my mind, I heard that all-too-famous advice, "If you fall off your bike/horse/swing/tree, you have to get back on."
That's all well and good when it comes to a bike crash - I wanted to get back on in February, but my broken bones advised against it. Instead I was treated to two different ambulance rides. My first ever, also my first broken bones ever.
Anyway, here's my 2nd question to you faithful. how do handle life's crashes? What do you do to help you "get back on"? Leave your comment below and this time I promise I'll respond.
Thanks!
