How Can I Know Peace with God?
It has been said that religion is man trying to make his way to God, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ is God making his way to man. Perhaps you're wondering the same? Perhaps you're asking: Why can't I find peace in my life? Why do I have this nagging feeling in my heart that tells me I need to find THE answer?
Perhaps this might help? Simple steps to help you discover - not just an answer, but THE Answer.
Not a what, but a Who.
Not a religion, but a Relationship.
Step ONE: Discover that God Loves you!
Understand that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for you!
The Bible says, “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, [Jesus Christ], that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” — a complete life full of purpose (John 10:10).
Haven't you ever looked at the Universe and wondered: This can't be all. My life is meant for more than just existing.
God made you to love you. He even told us so: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness." (Jeremiah 31:3)
So why is it so hard to "feel" His love?
Step TWO: Realize the Problem ... Your Sin
Every person on earth is a sinner and separated from God.
We have all done, thought or said bad things, which the Bible calls “sin.”
Those are the symptoms of the problem. We sin because we are sinners. We were born into it and we choose it. The Bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). That's why even the nicest people in the world can make the dumbest choices.
The consequence of sin is death in every sense. The cause of so much pain and suffering in the world is because sinners , spiritual separation from God (Romans 6:23).
The good news?
Step THREE: Recognize What God Has Done For You
God sent His Son to die for your sins!
Jesus died in our place so we could have a relationship with God and be with Him forever. The Bible tells us that “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
But it didn’t end with His death on the cross. He rose again and still lives!
“Christ died for our sins. … He was buried. … He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me” (John 14:6).
Step FOUR: Recieve his Forgiveness and Follow His Son
Ask for God's forgiveness, and Walk with His Son!
We can’t earn salvation; we are saved by God’s grace when we have faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.
God put it this way: "Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson they shall become like wool." (Isaiah 1:18)
All you have to do is admit with God that you are a sinner, that Christ died for your sins, and ask His forgiveness. Then turn from your sins — that’s called repentance - and follow Jesus Christ as his disciple.
Jesus Christ knows you and loves you. He told us: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." (Revelation 3:20)
Are you ready to do business with God? Are you ready to give up a life you that doesn't work in exchange for a life that can't lose?
May we suggest establshing that connection with God by praying the prayer below:
Dear Jesus, thank you for creating me and loving me, even though I have ignored you and gone my own way.
I realize now that I need you in my life and that I am sorry for my sins. I ask you to forgive me.
Thank you for dying on the Cross for my sins. I accept your gift of salvation and your offer of forgiveness.
I invite you into my life. Please make me a new person, the person you created me to be. Fill me with your Spirit so I can follow you faithfully and grow to become more and more like you.
I ask this in your name, Jesus. Amen.
